Born in Ethiopia and raised in Zimbabwe, hip hop artist Guti Razor is about to make a heartfelt splash with Love Wave, a 9-track mixtape that plays like a love letter—equal parts tender and tough.

Slated for release on Friday, July 18, this debut project showcases not just lyrical vulnerability but also gritty edge, straddling the intersection of hip hop swagger and emotional depth.
Thematically, Love Wave is rooted in love and relationships, but it’s far from your typical R&B crossover. With a lineup of fierce collaborators like Donne Jovi, Arlington Taylor, Griffin Makwiramiti, Swaygo the Shaman, and Trayn Dillinger, Guti Razor crafts a sonic world where romance meets the streets.
The production—helmed by ItsDontWorry and 4orty 5, among others—gives the project a cohesive, wave-like flow while still allowing for sharp lyrical jabs and introspective storytelling.

Despite Spotify recognizing it as an album, Guti prefers to keep it grounded as a “project”—a move that reflects his grounded, DIY spirit. He first started recording himself in high school, and Love Wave feels like a natural culmination of that journey: raw, real, and rooted in love for the craft.
The Razor Family, as he puts it, is more than a name—it’s an affirmation rising from childhood pain and a troubled home.
At its core, Love Wave isn't just about romance—it's about affirming life, connection, and the culture of Zimbabwean hip hop. “Zim hip hop is beautiful and diverse,” Guti tells Riddims and Raps, “and I’m happy to be a participant in this great genre that will continue to grow.”

With this release, he’s not just riding a wave—he’s helping shape it.
